Mary (LaManna) McLoone

U.S. Army Nurse Corps

Mary (LaManna) McLoone lived in Mariner’s Harbor on Simonson Avenue. She graduated Port Richmond High School in 1965. She went on to graduate Elizabeth General School of Nursing in 1968. During her senior year in nursing school she joined the Army. Upon graduation as a Registered Nurse, she was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. Her initial duty station was Patterson Army Hospital in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. One year later she received orders for 3rd Field Hospital in Saigon, South Vietnam (Nov.69-70). She completed active duty as a 1st Lieutenant.

Throughout her forty year nursing career, Mary worked in many hospitals and held various staff, management and administrative positions. Mary worked in Richmond University Medical Center (formerly St. Vincent’s Hospital) for the last 29 years of her nursing career.

Mary is a member of several Veteran Organizations, American Legion, VFW, AMVETS, VVA, and Catholic War Veterans. She was The American Legion County Commander in 2010-2011.
She was the Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshall in 1996.
