Marco “Mark” Cannizzaro

Marco "Mark" Cannizzaro was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 11, 1933. He grew up in New Dorp Beach with his brothers, Simone and Richard. Mark graduated from New Dorp High School in 1951, joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He received a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.

Mark married Barbara Kirilenko on April 26, 1958 and they moved to Prince's Bay where they raised five children, Linda Kirilenko, Theresa (Padula), John, Mark and Annmarie (Vallebuona). Mark has ten grandchildren, Joanna, Lauren, George, John, Craig, Danielle, Sara, Mark, Emma and Peter, and six great grandchildren, Maddalena, Valentina, Julie, Violet, Peter and Leila.

Mark worked for the New York Telephone company retiring in 1988 but continuing his service to the company as a consultant until 1990. Mark and Barbara loved to travel with family and friends and took many wonderful trips together until Barbara's passing in 2014.

Mark was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he is a parishioner of St. Joseph and St. Thomas Church where he taught as part of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. He served on the Parish Council and was inducted into the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.

Mark enjoys spending time with his family and sharing his knowledge and his love of life with them all.
