Francis W. Quin

U.S. Navy

Francis William Quin was born and raised in Port Richmond. He graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1943 where he was an All City basketball player and also starred on the baseball diamond, hitting the first home run in the new ball field.

During WWII Frank served as Seaman First Class (Gunner's Mate) aboard the U.S.S Tennessee (BB43). The BigT participated in 13 major operations in the Pacific during the War. It was a highly decorated battleship. His 3 older brothers also served in WWII; Jerry & AL in the Army & Jeff in the Navy. His mom Loretto, dad Jerrold & sister Flo kept the home fires burning back in Port Richmond.

Frank came home after the war & married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Marie Takach. They settled in Sunnyside, raising 5 children while Frank worked for the NY telephone company. Frank passed away peacefully in 1981.
